EURO-CHINA OVERVIEW
EURO-CHINA is a non-profit,
non-Governmental Association. It was set up in 1986 under the name of
E.A.C.T./EURO-CHINA (European Advisory Council for technology trade), modified
into EURO-CHINA International Association in 2001, according to the French law
of 1901. It has “Consultative Status” at the United Nations.
EURO-CHINA promotes economic and
cultural understanding and cooperation between Europe and China by means of a
wide range of programs, projects and professional services, so as to encourage
the synergy in economic trade, technological and cultural progress between
Europe and China. These programs are carried out at regional level, to foster
substantial development in economic sectors, and to facilitate the exchange of
technology, know-how and management expertise, including consulting, research
and market intelligence, conference and seminars, communication and public
relations, vocational training and management development. EURO-CHINA also has a
well-developed Experts network to fulfill its mission and to cooperate with
other institutions, such as EC Asia—Invest Program, ECOSOC & UNCTAD of UN,
the national and regional local Authorities, Industrial Associations and Chamber
of Commerce, etc.
Its secretariat is sited in Menton
(France) with Corresponding Offices in various European countries and in China.
Its Board of Directors consists of a group of outstanding personalities from
academic, diplomatic, financial, economic and industrial circles in Europe and
China. Currently, the Chairman is Professor Siro Polo PADOLECCHIA, the last
descendant of Marco Polo, former Ambassador and Special Envoy in China of the
United Nations and the European Commission, president of the International
marketing Federation. A group of experienced and highly qualified professionals
from Europe and China carries out the program under the coordination of the
Chairman, in Europe, and a number of “Antennas” and
Correspondents in many Provinces of China.
EURO-CHINA is an independent and self-financed organization. The establishment and development of EURO-CHINA has received the support and appreciation of business communities and governmental agencies as well as international and regional public and private institutions both in Europe and in China, and industrial and economic enterprises.
EURO-CHINA operates a wide range of
programs to enhance the exchange and cooperation between China and Europe.
Industrial
Investment Cooperation - A central concern of
EURO-CHINA. For many years, the cooperation with chemical, environmental,
electronic and electrical, automotive, transportation, aerospace and aviation,
shipbuilding, packaging and printing, pharmaceutical and health care industries
both in Europe and in China, has permitted to set up an active network of
industries as well as individual Experts, and to participate in multilateral
projects of the United Nations, the European Commission and Asia-Invest, as much
as in bilateral national projects.
Urban
Development – Provides policy advise and
professional assistance to central and local Authorities concerning Housing and
infrastructure development, capacity building, communication, transports,
education, health, cultural and leisure systems, women participation, creation
and development of enterprises and jobs, management training, environment
protection, waster disposal and management, new sources of energy, urban design,
etc.
Investment
Promotion – Provides professional assistance
to European and Chinese enterprises, to facilitate investment and the creation
Joint Ventures. Such assistance include 2 types of services: one focusing on
trade and investment promotion activities, including the organization of trade
missions, assistance in the participation to international fairs and
exhibitions, market and trade information, conferences and seminars; the other
focusing upon feasibility study, marketing survey, project planing, legal or
operational advise.
Information Publication and Communication – Plays a very active role in information exchange by means of publications, electronic media, and press release, and plans to soon create a Internet portal in bilingual Chinese and English to facilitate the communication with Chinese and European operators or investors. Until now, various books, articles and studies have been published both in Europe and China, under the title “Marketing in China”, “Marketing in Europe”, “Joint Ventures in China”, “Marketing in a Developing World” and “Management and Global Competition”.
Consultancy
– Provides information and professional assistance concerning market
opportunities, economic financial, customs, juridical and marketing aspects,
useful in business negotiations. It assists managers of SMEs, in Europe and in
China, in the preparation of agreements and the implementation of projects.
Market
Surveys – Carries out market research by
products and sectors, highlighting relevant import/export date, production and
demand variations at domestic and international level, competitive activity and
dimension of enterprises operating in the specific sectors of interest, etc.
Joint
Ventures and Search for Partners – Assists
investors and managers of SMEs in the preparation of joint venture projects
(negotiations, research, financing, feasibility studies, location of partners,
planning and strategies), and in the presentation of the final scheme to the
local or central authorities or institutions.
Seminars
and Business Trips – Organizes meetings,
seminars and video-conferences, on topics of interest for European and Chinese
managers, as well as business trips from and to China, and “twinning” events
to foster regional cooperation in collaboration with local Authorities and
economic or cultural entities.
Presence in China – A liaison Office is established in China, to represent EURO-CHINA and to coordinate projects and activities, as well as to maintain and develop the relations with local Authorities, Associations, chambers of Commerce, and other relevant entities.
